13   '''Abstract''': NDG3 is about enabling the reuse of data within and between NERC commmunities (but also the wider community of users of environmental data). The key components of the current activity are to 1) build a community within NERC who are working not only on serving their own discipline, but on interoperation between their respective disciplines, and 2) provide the key services needed by that community: data discovery and reliable data description terms via discovery and vocabulary services (and appropriate exemplar portals). To do these things we are delivering workshops, foucssing on community tools and methodologies, and further developing and deploying services which make it possible for the met/ocean community to both exploit their own data and interoperate with the wider community via new standards compliant software consistent with the community methodologies.
