Description
In fact throughout MOLES. Why do things with the same semantic meaning have different names? Presumably this is MOLES 1.3:
<dgDataGranule> <dataModelID> <schemeIdentifier>NDG-A0</schemeIdentifier> <repositoryIdentifier>badc.nerc.ac.uk</repositoryIdentifier> <localIdentifier>AfEj15o6</localIdentifier> </dataModelID> <dgGranuleSummary> <dgGranuleName>COAPEC_500YrRun_wholerun_decadal_ocean</dgGranuleName> </dgGranuleSummary> </dgDataGranule>
Anyway, for future why shouldn't it be dgMetadataID in there?

I've remembered!
Back in the days of IDIssues.doc, it was agreed that the CSML ID would be in the same format/syntax, and so it would be the actual "Model ID", rather than a "made-up" MOLES ID, so the naming was meant to reflect the actual source.
Everything then went quiet...
