[WG][M] Moles Browse installation at NOCS

Description

After installing wsgi + mod_python (see Ticket #639), I installed the browse code as per instructions at  http://proj.badc.rl.ac.uk/ndg/wiki/NDGBrowseHowTo. I'm not sure about the ndg.ini configuration, as we don't use fastCGI, so I left the line:

# socket = /tmp/ndg_fastcgi.soc

commented. The underlying transport works fine and the 001deploy.sh started ok apparently. Need now instructions for the last bit that should lead to a working ndg discovery

Moles Browse working at NOCS.
Keeping in mind that we do not have fastcgi installed (see ticket #639), our configuration is slightly different from other data providers. With reference to  http://proj.badc.rl.ac.uk/ndg/wiki/NDGBrowseHowTo:

1) Apache is configured like this (relevant snippet):

Alias /discovery "/var/www/ndg/dummy"
Alias /browse "/var/www/ndg/dummy"
Alias /retrieve "/var/www/ndg/dummy"
Alias /layout "/var/www/ndg/dummy"
<Location /var/www/ndg/dummy>
 SetHandler python-program
 PythonHandler paste.modpython
 PythonOption paste.ini /var/www/ndg/ndg.ini
</Location>

7) Here is the relevant snippet of ndg.ini:

[server:main]
use = egg:PasteScript#wsgiutils
#host = localhost
host = ndg.noc.soton.ac.uk
port = 8001
#use = egg:PasteScript#flup_fcgi_thread
#socket = /tmp/ndg_fastcgi.soc

We can't use port 80 as it is already in use, so we use 8001 instead. This means configuring accordingly both NOCS firewall and Soton University firewall.
