[DS] Define what is minimally compliant CF-NetCDF

Description (last modified by domlowe) (diff)

Define a specification for a minimally CF compliant netCDF document. We will then assess if this is sufficient for use by client applications, and whether CSML needs to contain any additional attribute information. If additional attribute information is required, eg. cell_methods, then we should see where this fits into the conceptual model - i.e is it part of the phenomenon or where else might it go in CSML,

I strongly feel the cell_methods attribute is a part of the phenomenon description. We need to sort out how to represent this i.e. include both Standard Name plus cell_method. If we squirrel the cell_method away somewhere else semantic interoperability with BODC Usage Vocabulary becomes harder.

Yes I think that was the conclusion we thought we would come to for cell_method - that it is part of the phenomenon. In this case I was really just using cell_method as an example of the decision process we need to go through.
