Description
For MOLES 3 the model developed by Andrew (EOF data model) I think it is not applicable as it is for the UK’s environmental monitoring portfolio. It introduces, for example, classes such as Monitoring Activity, Funds, Monitoring Facility ( Platform or Observation Site), Observation Collection – which already exist within MOLES, but not a class to describe for example FAAM , FGAM, CFARR, HeCToR.
For MOLES, a class MO_Facility describing the above bodies/organization it seems adequate. A first cut of the facility model is here.
Since our objective is the modelling of the metadata of observations results, and not the modelling of monitoring facilities as in EOF, classes such as MO_Instrument, MO_Platform, MO_Operation etc can have an attribute facility of type MO_Facility which will provide information regarding the facility (or facilities) a particular instance of the class ( e.g MO_Instrument) belongs to.
The class is ok, but we need to a) improve the codelist, and b) consider how we get the links to EOF in here ... so, if nothing else, we need coathanger points.
