Climate Diagnostics Benchmark (CDB)

The CDB was tested on the CICLAD compute server at the IPSL and on the login nodes at BADC.

Overview of scope and structure.

The CDB is intended to provide a simple framework to write CMIP5-oriented climate diagnostics scripts. It aims to:

  • Simplify the development of climate diagnostics on ESG servers
  • Benchmark a server-side computing framework
  • Help in the timely delivery of model intercomparisons

We have adopted a diagnostic scripting framework that makes scripts and their outputs easily portable. A diagnostic script consists of:

  1. A list of requested variables and frequencies.
  2. A list of experiments and years where these variables are needed.

From these informations, the CDB determine which models have this data in the local ESG archive.
